How To Be Confident with Orion

A Personal Note from Orion

If you would have told me two years ago that I’d be hosting a podcast in English, I never would’ve believed it. I used to have all sorts of limiting beliefs around the fact that English isn’t my native language and they held me back from pursuing my passion. Today, I’m a podcast host and speaker, I’ve reached thousands of people and recorded over 100 episodes! You’re probably wondering how I did it (and how you can too). It all happened because I worked on one simple thing: Confidence.

Confidence is the secret ingredient to getting what you want in life. You don’t have to be born with confidence, you can create it and it’s easy to do. On this episode, I share how to let go of the beliefs that hold you back and build radiant self-confidence on all levels; mental, spiritual, emotional and physical. Tune in this week and learn how to become the best and most confident version of yourself!

About Today’s Show

Hello and welcome to Stellar Life Podcast. How are you doing? This is Orion. I hope your day is lovely. Today we’re gonna talk about confidence; how to build confidence, how to increase confidence, what is confidence. I’m gonna break down how to increase confidence on a spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical level.

I always wanted to be confident especially when speaking. But having english as my second language, it was always a barrier. I was always so aware of my accent, so aware of the way I speak, so aware of my grammar mistakes, and forgetting the Ss, forgetting how to say the sentence in the correct structure.

But one of the things that helped me the most was knowing that your message is more important than how you sound and 93% of communication is nonverbal. If you are emotional, if you’re excited, people can feel that. I was very lucky that my amazing husband really pushed me to do this podcast because I know that it helps and touch the hearts of thousands of people. I know that I change someone’s day. When I go beyond myself into service that really helps me. I’m gonna talk more about it later but before I do that, I wanna share with you some things that I did to overcome obstacles.

It’s a little bit less than a decade when I was in an abusive relationship. It started verbally abusive and then became physical and then I stopped the relationship. But then I was broken, completely, for two years. I hated myself. I believed all the nasty words and humiliating things that had been thrown at me. All the humiliation; you’re fat, you’re ugly, you’re stupid, all those words, I really believed that. It completely destroyed my self-confidence. I was not only physically broken, I was heartbroken. I remember walking down the street and not being able to look at people in the eyes. I was a shadow of myself. I couldn’t look at people. I was isolated because when you’re with a predator they isolate you. My self-confidence was completely, completely shut, crushed. I didn’t even know who I was anymore. I encountered depression. To help myself, I drank. It was really, really a very hard time in my life, but I knew that I can rise like the phoenix from the ashes.

When you’re with a predator they isolate you. Share on X

I was determined to do everything that I can to rise, to build my self-confidence, to get that fire back, and so I did. I studied with many leaders and luminaries. One of the things that helped me the most, as far as confidence, was going to a Tony Robbins event. My first one was Unleash the Power Withinwhere I did the fire walk. I walked on fire. When you do stuff like walking on fire, it really helps your brain to understand that you are limitless because the thought that goes through your mind is, “If I was able to walk on fire, what else can I do?” Since then and before that, I’ve done other things. I’ve done the Tough Mudder which is a 12-mile obstacle course designed by British Special Forces where the first obstacle was called the Chernobyl Jacuzzi. I remember my team and I, we did it and it was so cold outside, it was 30 degrees Fahrenheit.

The first obstacle, the Chernobyl Jacuzzi, you have to jump into a big tub full of ice water, green ice water, come out on the other side, run a mile, do a rope course, climb Berlin Walls, crawl under wires, balance on beams on top of water into the next Berlin Wall. Oh my God, some of the obstacles, they were awesome and scary. Just Google the Tough Mudder and you’ll see what I’m talking about. Walking a mud mile, there were monkey bars, there were electric wires, there were a lot of things. That gave me, physically, some self-confidence. Everything that I’ve done in my life gave me more and more self-confidence.

What can you do to increase your self-confidence? We’re gonna talk about the spiritual, mental, physical, and emotional level of confidence. I’m not gonna cover all the things that can make you confident because it’s endless. There’s so many things, so many methods, but by the end of this you will definitely get some awesome tools and food for thought as far as how do you show up in the world in your true glory. How do you show up in the world feeling strong, empowered, powerful. How do you show up in the world in a way that people see you? And you’re visible and people are listening to you, and you stand strong, and you fulfill your true potential and you don’t let those negative thoughts, the small voice in your head to stand in your way of achieving your goals, to stand in your way of dreaming, to stand in your way of being the person that you are meant to be.

Confidence and spirituality. I think that confidence is a spiritual thing. It’s something that when you are connected to the field, to the energy, you can start by desire, you can start by asking to be confident. You can start by asking the divine guidance, God, like, “God, I wanna be somebody else. I wanna be somebody that is a better version of myself. How can I become that?” Just that focus, just that awareness of who you want to be, who you want to become, will get you closer to fulfill your desire.

The desire is the first thing. You desire, you connect with the Divine and you say, “Hey, I don’t feel that hot right now. Can you help me? Can you help guide me?” There is something about awareness because when you develop awareness, all kinds of unforeseen opportunities open up to you, and you step into that new version of yourself.

When you develop awareness, all kinds of unforeseen opportunities open up to you, and you step into that new version of yourself.

You start by almost like creating an alter ego. I’ve done a podcast here with Athena Rosette and it was all about alter ego. It was all about how she built herself the alter ego of a goddess and how it changed her life. You wanna visualize yourself as the person you wanna become.

I often visualize myself speaking on large stages, in front of thousands and thousands of people, and sharing my heart, and sharing my knowledge with thousand because if I won’t visualize my brain will not go there. If didn’t visualize in my brain and have the desire to speak and share my message in front of thousands of people, I would never come here all the way to South Carolina just to shoot some videos, travelling 10 hours on the plane just to come and take some videos for my website. I wouldn’t do all the actions that I wanted to do.

I just published today, on orionsmethod.com, a beautiful article about vision boards and the power of vision boards. Many times in my life, I achieved things through visualizing it first. You wanna visualize yourself as you want to be. What the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve. What the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve, this is a quote by Napoleon Hill, he’s the author of Think and Grow Rich. The whole idea of the book is you think about where you wanna become, you visualize, you see yourself where you wanna be, and then thoughts become things.

Going back to vision boards. The reason why vision boards work and what is a vision board for you who don’t know, the first time I saw a vision board was when I watched the movie The Secret. John Assaraf whom I met at Traffic and Conversion Summit two weeks ago and took a selfie with which was awesome, talked about creating a vision board. You just create a board and you put pictures of your ideal life on it. Pictures that inspire you, quotes that inspire you, words that inspire, then you just every once in a while, meditate on it. What he did – they moved so it was just in one of the boxes and when he opened one of the boxes, he was shocked to see that on his vision board from five years ago was a photo of the house that he wanted to have. It was the exact same house that he bought. How amazing is that?

For me, there was so many things that happened through vision boards. I visualized my dream relationship. I visualized my dream life. I visualized so many things. I even had a photo of a cat. I had a photo of a cat with no hair, those hairless cats, because I’m allergic to cat. But when I met Stephan, he came with a cat, so I had a cat. That was on my vision board. It’s not always gonna manifest exactly how you imagine it but it’s always gonna be what you need.

Through a vision board, you can imagine yourself successful, living in a beautiful house. You can imagine yourself in the most amazing relationship. You can imagine yourself travelling the world.

On my vision board, I have a photo of an airplane circling earth and man, since I’ve put that photo on my vision board, I get tired of travel. I have so much travel, so much travel. Really focus on where you wanna go because what happens is, in your brain there is the RAS, the reticular activating system. You know how when you buy a new car, all of a sudden you see this car everywhere. If the car is red you see red cars of the same model everywhere. This is because your RAS, your reticular activating system is turned on. It’s almost like when you visualize your dream or when you do a physical vision board, you give your mind a GPS for your dream. It’s like a dream GPS for your mind.

Visualizing is a spiritual thing because you are with yourself, you’re looking inward and you’re looking outward. You see yourself as a different version of yourself, as a version of yourself from the future, the person that you want to become, because so many people live their life looking in the rear view mirror. They look back on their past and they say, “Oh my God. I wish I did this. I wish I did that.” They live in regret. They live in shame. They live in pain. You can focus on the past, and dwell on the past, and prevent yourself from moving forward. Or you can heal the past, find a way to heal it, forgive it, move forward and look to the future. Visualize yourself and your dream and it will already make you more confident.

Another spiritual way to become more confident is be confident for someone else. You know how I told you that the reason I was able to come and speak on stage and the reason why I’m able to speak on a podcast was because I’m doing it for somebody else. I’m doing it to fulfill my greatest mission of empowering people around the world and making them feel powerful, and alive, and transform, and connect to self-love, connect to their power. If I wanna do that, if I wanna help affect transformation in others, I have to get out of myself and into service. I have to focus on the other person. If I focus on me, I will hear myself speaking, I will hear my accent, I will hear my grammar, I will hear the little voice that tells me all kinds of things that are probably not true. Instead of that, I get out from myself, and into service. Does it happen 100% of the time that I’m just into service and don’t think about myself? Absolutely not. But it’s a practice and practice makes better. When you practice more, you’ll get better and better.

Another spiritual way to become more confident is be confident for someone else. Share on X

Have the intention to be confident. You don’t have to wait until somebody else will come and tell you how beautiful you are, how sexy you are, how wonderful you, how smart you are before you get confident. You can just wake-up one day and say, “I just wanna be confident. This is who I wanna be.” It’s a matter of decision, it’s a matter of intention. I wanna be confident therefore I will be. Whatever you do in life you wanna do with intention. When you go networking you wanna come with intention. When you go on a job interview, you wanna go with a powerful intention. When you hang out with your mom or your family member or your friends, every interaction will be better when you have intention behind it.

My intention when I enter a room is to light people up. This morning, when I got to Hell Yeah studio, I smiled, I made everybody around me feel comfortable. I made some jokes, I was upbeat. They served me coffee, I put my coffee cup back, I cleaned my makeup station, I always wanna leave the room better when I entered it. Some people go in the room and they just suck all the energy because they’re not confident. They feel that there is a lack, and they feel like they are in scarcity, and they need to suck the juice out of other people. But when you enter the room, you wanna enter the room and instead of taking, you wanna have this giving energy. When you have this giving energy, you stand stronger. You lift your head up high. People treat you better because they can sense the energy.

Many people have a disconnect between what they say and their body language. They’re not genuine. People can sense it and people can feel it. But when you’re genuine, you come with a strong intention, you’re aligned with what you say and how you say it with your body, then people perceive you as a leader, and people perceive you as confident. That was the spiritual part of being confident.

We talked about visualizing yourself the way you want to be. We talked about vision boards. We said that you might wanna do it for somebody else, get out of yourself and into service. And also, have the intention to be confident, the mental of confidence.

“You are the average of the five people that you hang out with the most,” this is a quote by Tony Robbins that I’ve heard. Make sure that you are hanging out with people that are not dream killers. Those people that wants everything good for you and they’re just like, “Oh I just wanna protect you. You shouldn’t try to do this bold step that you wanna do. You shouldn’t try and do this business deal. You shouldn’t try and move to that country. You shouldn’t get into that relationship.” Danger, danger, danger. People just project their limitations on you. You don’t want anybody to project their limitations on you. You can just say, ‘Thank you for sharing,” and move on. This is why it’s so essential that your peer group are people that are better than you.

In Hebrew there is a saying, this is a rough translation, “You don’t wanna be the head of the fox. You wanna be a tail for the lion.” You always wanna be surrounded with people that are better than you. Sometimes, we live in our little world and we have blinders. We can’t see beyond but then you hang out with people that are high achievers and leaders. Their perspective is so wide that you start to open up your blinders and you can see the world in a bigger way. You can see more. You have a bigger perspective of what’s possible. You have a bigger perspective of how limitless you are and how infinite is your potential. Make sure that you hang out with people that will be there for you and uplift you.

When I was personally considering this quote, I surround myself with amazing people, and I do it consciously. I’ll do anything to have lunch with somebody that I admire or I respect or I can learn from. I’ll travel, I’ll do whatever it takes. I’ll hunt them down. I’ll make sure I get to hang out with that person if it’s possible so I can learn from them.

It’s almost like when you get into a perfume shop and you leave with a little bit of a lovely scent on you. When you rub shoulders with leaders and luminaries, you will have to expand, there is no other way. You will have to expand.

One of the five people that I hang out with the most is my cat. I was thinking to myself, “Hmm, I spend a lot of time with my cat.” But she is a good teacher too. She’s a good teacher too. She teaches me a lot. I did a podcast interview with JP Sears, the ultra spiritual guy who’s got those super funny videos on YouTube and on Facebook. He’s writing a whole book about lessons that he learned from his dog and I shared some that I learned from my cat. It’s a fun episode so go check it out on stellarlifepodcast.com, it’s the episode with JP Sears. It’s funny as hell and you should definitely check it out.

Go where no one ever has gone before. Do things that other people don’t do. You wanna be confident, get out of your freaking comfort zone. Do things that are uncomfortable like doing a Facebook live. Right now, as I’m recording this episode, I’m doing a Facebook live while recording. It’s out of my comfort zone. What if I do some mistakes? But you know what the reward will be? Next time, I’ll be more confident.

It’s a matter of practice. It’s a matter of pushing yourself beyond and beyond your limiting beliefs. Beyond the places that you think you can go. That does not mean that you wanna put yourself in danger, not at all. But within reason, do the things that you are afraid to do.

I heard an interview with Dan Sullivan and what he said was, “The things that you procrastinate the most are your path.” The things that you are shy of doing, that you are afraid to do, these are the things that will give you the most reward in your life.

You wanna question your inner critic. You, me, everybody, we all have that little voice in our mind that tells us that we can’t. It’s our ego that is trying to hold us back. In Kabbalah, they call it the opponent. This is your inner opponent because according to Kabbalah, Satan is not this person with horns, it’s actually your little voice inside that is trying to hold you back. This is where the real struggle and the real transformation happens; when you stop listening to that voice, just stop listening to that voice, when a thought comes up of who are you to do this.

Today at Hell Yeah Studio, I talked with Jimbo Marshall, he’s the producer and he helped me tremendously. One of the things he said was, “On your videos, let’s put the word Orion rather than Orion Talmay.” I was like, “Really? Isn’t that pretentious, like Madonna, or Prince, or Sting, or Beyonce, or Rihanna?” He was like, “Why not you? Why not you?” We always ask those questions, who are we? Who am I to be called just Orion? But who am I not to be? Who are you not to be? You can be whatever you want, so question your inner critic.

Louise Hay says, “You’ve been criticizing yourself for years and it hasn’t worked. Try approving yourself and see what happens.” What will happen when you give yourself to be whatever you want? To be called whatever you want? To wear whatever you want? To say whatever you want as long as you don’t hurt other people because we don’t wanna do that, and to express yourself fully, and fully allow yourself to be seen by the world.

Dare to fail. Thomas Edison failed a thousand times before he created the lightbulb. Every successful entrepreneur out there have failed. If you haven’t failed, you probably are not making progress. When you think about failure, what is failure? There is no such thing as failure because every “failure” is just a stepping stone to your next evolution if you let it. If you don’t fail, you never expand, you never learn.

There is no such thing as failure because every “failure” is just a stepping stone to your next evolution if you let it. If you don’t fail, you never expand, you never learn.

Look at babies. Babies, they fall so many times before they start walking. Can you imagine going and talking to a toddler and telling him or her, “Hey, what are you doing? Get up. Start running. Why are you falling all the time?” No, you allow them to fall. You allow them to “fail” because if you don’t fail, you don’t learn how to walk.

If you don’t give yourself the time to learn something new, you will never fly. Allow yourself to fail. Also, when you talk about failure, don’t say, “I failed at love.” You can say, “I did something that failed. I did x and it failed. I failed at cooking rice.” Instead of I failed, put something between I and the word fail. “I had a failed attempt at cooking rice.” The attempt is the failure rather than you being the failure. It creates a distance in language between you and the thing that had failed. You never fail, things failed, but you never fail. You are never a failure.

Whatever you did or didn’t do, you can always get back on your feet and try something new. Keep trying and be persistent. Because most people stop just a few centimeters away from their success and this is sad. If you want success in your life, if you want confidence, keep moving forward, don’t let “failure” stop you.

On the mental part, we talked about your peer group, that you are the average of the five people that you hang out with the most. We talked about how you go where no one ever has gone before and you do things that people never do, and you get outside of your comfort zone.

Emotional. Do not see yourself less than other people. Something I’ve done many times in my life especially times when I didn’t have money. Even going for a dinner was a hard thing. I was kind of like struggling really hard. I come across people who, the whole conversation is about millions, and the billions, and trillions, and the billions, and the millions, and trillions. I felt really small near those people. I’m like, “Oh, they have money. They’re probably so much better than me.” Or, “Wow, they teach a lot of people. They’re probably so much better than me.” Or, “Wow, they’re standing there on the big freaking stage and I’m standing here in the crowd. They must be so much better than me.” Not true.

I don’t think that I’m better or worse than anybody else. I think that we all have our gifts and talents but in the past, I was under the illusion that if somebody’s big that they’re probably better than me or I’m less than them. I came to realize, especially when I became more successful and I hung out with more and more successful people, I have met those people from the stages, and from those billion, trillion, and gazillion conversations. Sometimes, especially with men, when they are starting to brag about their achievement, it just feels, to me, it’s just covering some kind of insecurity. I, myself, I don’t feel insecure anymore. Yes, I don’t have millions, and trillions, and gazillions in the bank, I might have. I probably will have, one day. But I don’t see myself as less than just because of that. Because the person I am, the soul that I am has no price tag on it.

Like Dr. Wayne Dyer used to say, “We are spiritual beings having a human experience.” If you meet somebody, if you all wear the same clothes, and you all stay at the same place, and you don’t know who is rich and who is poor, they’re just the same. Some people are wiser, some people are kinder, but money does not make the person. Money is almost like a magnifying glass. It magnifies the qualities of the person.

When I see a lot of wealthy people, I can totally see it because I hang out with wealthy people that are generous, and loving, and kind, and freaking awesome. Because like I said, I really appreciate my peer group. But there are also wealthy people that are not kind and killing the planet, and killing the animals, and polluting our oceans, and doing all kinds of dealing with weapons, and doing all kinds of horrible things. But this is not they are rich or because they have money. This is because they are who they are and money is just a magnifying glass to the person that they are.

Remember that you are not less than anybody. When you meet them, meet them as an equal. Give respect and just try to learn as much as you can and increase your confidence this way.

Take care of yourself. In the previous episode, I talked about self-love. Self-love is a lot about taking care of yourself. I gave tons of tips on how to love yourself more. When you take care of yourself, you increase self-confidence because if you don’t take care of yourself, who will take care of you? There is nobody in the world that will take care of you, your health, your love life, your success, your dreams and desires, more than you do. It’s time to step up your game and really take care of yourself on all levels, and do what you need to heal the past, stay in the present, and visualize the future. Do whatever you can to nourish your heart, nourish your soul, and nourish your body.

Physical, one of my favorite. When I went through this abusive relationship, I really worked on my physical, emotional, and spiritual level. On the spiritual level, I used to meditate a lot, visualize my dreams, and connect to source, and pray, pray a lot. I used to cry a lot back then. I used to cry a lot. Ask and you shall receive and those answers will be met when you are in complete surrender to your divine. I also worked on my mental. I did everything that I could to feed my mind with good information so I’ll know how to reprogram my mind for success.

Everyday, I started by watching things that made me laugh on YouTube. Any inspiring information I could hold onto. I read books, I went to seminars, all those things. On the physical level, I did a lot to get myself stronger. Back then, my spirit was broken and I wanted to feel stronger, so I went out and studied mixed martial arts. I studied Aikido. It was great because at that time, I had so much pent up anger, so much anger because it starts with depression, and pain, and then the next stage is anger. I was raging. This anger of like, “How could that happen? How could I let two years go by feeling so shitty? How can I let somebody that I trusted and loved with all my heart hurt me on this deep level?” And so, the punching bag was my best friend. I used to punch and kick and be a kick ass. I loved it. I loved it.

I also did yoga because when you’re holding so much emotion, your body tends to get tight. Yoga really helped me soothe my muscles and relax and breathe. Breathing is so important.

Through the physical, you can get confident. Even by lifting weights. Anything, any sport that you desire, dancing, lifting weights, anything that will help you move. There are so many emotions that are stored in our bodies and when we move our bodies, we also move out those negative emotions. Take care of your physicality. Go to the gym, train, do whatever to more, to increase blood flow, to increase your heart rate, run, do cardio because when you do cardio, you increase your serotonin and dopamine, and good feel hormones in your brain. You will feel better. Take care of your physicality.

Also, dress to impress. Dress to impress, yeah, you always dress to impress other people, but why wouldn’t you dress to impress yourself? If you’re a woman, wear some beautiful lingerie under your business suit where nobody’s seeing, just so you feel great. Or even if you feel bad, move your body, go and dress up, go and put your make-up, go out, you’ll already feel better. By dressing yourself, you will feel better.

Posture and body language. When you see the most powerful people in the world, they have this really big body language. Oprah Winfrey, for example, the woman takes space. Most women are afraid to take space. We always try to keep our self small and polite and like a good girl, but guess what, celebrities are not good girls and good boys. Celebrities take space. You wanna take space, you wanna allow yourself to expand and be big. One of the things you can do to increase your confidence is you can stand up and adopt the posture of a wonder woman. I swear to God, adopt the posture of a Wonder Woman for 30 seconds before any meeting or anything, before a date, before a meeting, you will feel powerful already. Because your physiology affects your neurology. When you adopt a powerful physiology, your mind gets the message that you are powerful and everything is good and you increase your confidence.

Breathing patterns. When you have anxiety, your breathing is shallow. You don’t breathe as well. If somebody has anxiety for a while, eventually their breathing pattern will get in the habit of becoming really shallow. Just by taking a few deep breath and calming down your breathing and getting into a more natural breathing pattern, you will feel more calm, and you will increase your confidence. You keep do all types of breathing exercise. You can do one with me now where you inhale by the count of four, hold your breath for a count of two, and exhale by the count of six. Again, inhale for four. Hold for two. Exhale, one, two, three, four, five, six. I already feel more grounded. Actually, I feel a little high, it feels kind of good. I can also hear that my voice is more grounded. It’s not so high because I am more in my body. I’m more connected to my core, myself.

Just by taking a few deep breath and calming down your breathing and getting into a more natural breathing pattern, you will feel more calm, and you will increase your confidence. Share on X

To summarize the physical, you wanna dress to impress yourself. You wanna mind your posture and your body language. Is it close? Is it open? Do I want a keep open body language? When you feel scared, do the opposite of what you wanna do which is to sit very close because if you sit open and you lift your head high, and you put a little smile on your face, you will notice that within two, three minutes, you won’t be able to feel closed again. You’ll become more open. You’ll become more confident.

I wish you all the best. If you like the tips in this episode, if something resonate with you, send me a note. If you wanna help me spread the word, please share this episode with somebody that you think might help them, with a loved one. You can always talk to me, email me at orion@nullorionsmethod.com, I would love to hear from you. I would love to connect with you. Thank you so much. This is Orion signing off.

✓ Hang out with people who encourage and uplift you. As Tony Robbins said, “You are the average of the five people you hang out with the most.”

✓ Don’t be afraid to be what you want. Stop criticizing yourself and start using kind, encouraging words.

✓ Don’t let failure stop you from reaching your goals. Even the most successful people have failed at one point in their lives.

✓ Don’t compare yourself to others. Focus on improving yourself and accept that everyone has their own pace.

✓ Be mindful of your body language. Maintain a good posture, sit up straight, stand up tall and always have a smile on your face.
